Upon completion of INT. Detroit – Sunrise, I was eager to initiate the second phase of the work by inhabiting the exterior landscape of
Detroit. Coinciding with the conditions of the project, I stayed within the city limits and did not enter any enclosed areas.
Obviously, there were urban experiences that transpired during such a performance. I have included partial documentation of these experiences.
This is one of the locations that I occupied during the performance. I located this space while exploring the ruins of the MCS (Michigan Central Station).
It was a safe place to maintain occupancy. Conforming to the conditions of the performance, I did not enter any of the interior spaces, however, I
still made a legitimate camp in the dugout. The space did not have many occupants, but I did meet several regulars, including Tim, Ruthie, Billy and Lester.
This space provided opportunities to explore the MCS on a regular basis.
The area pictured above was an ideal setting for EXT. Detroit – Sunset. This location was close to the city center and I was able to setup a camp between
the walls of the houses. This specific area had an extremely desolate quality. Although I conversed with several bystanders, I was never able to
establish a connection with any occupants. After three days of wandering this location, I decided to venture into an area that was closer to the city center.
